Drag race uk season 27/12/2023 ![]() ![]() It was difficult to know it was Ellie Diamond as she was wearing a full Halloween costume. It was nothing to do with drag (she was literally Cat in the Hat from the Mike Myers movie). Nobody had a clue what was happening and I heard audible boos. She performed as Cat in the Hat in a very weird West End-style performance. It was difficult to follow A'whora and Ellie did not. 9/10Įllie - Then, things came tumbling down. Her routines were some of the most complicated and the general production values seemed to be turned up a notch during her 8 minutes or so on stage. A'whora is from the area and was absolutely adored by the audience. She also did a medley dance routine, this time of 90s club classics and had everybody on their feet. 8/10Ī'whora - THE performer of the night. A definitely "what-could-have-been" for Drag Race. She is somebody who I thought had potential on the show and just needed some time to gain confidence. Very feminine, beautiful, confident with complex dance routines. Did a sort of gypsy-inspired dancing medley and looked incredible. 6/10Ĭherry Valentine - One of the best performers of the night. ![]() I (and maybe the audience) however are starting to feel a bit of fatigue. It was very melodramatic and it was clear that thought that had gone into the idea. It was a lip-sync performance and she did try to tell a story of her "murdering" her back-up dancers. He rushed through his performance on auto-pilot and then disappeared. He would occasionally shout something but it was difficult to hear what was being said. The performance seemed very dated and he did a sort of cabaret performance. It was difficult to know what was happening. Joe Black - Then Joe Black came out and everybody went to the toilet. Weirdly, she had one of the most muted receptions from the audience. She gets an extra point for singing live. Veronica Green - Sang "Diamonds Are Forever." It was good (and she was one of the only performers to sing live) but it had a real "Butlins entertainer" vibe. Tia went to university in Nottingham so I would much preferred for her to do some comedy, talk to the audience and get everybody involved. There was very little opportunity for her to show her personality here. It was also fine but dance routines are not what I think of when I think of Tia. Tia Kofi - Eh, then Tia came out (who I really enjoy) and did some dancing. Ginny was not somebody I loved on the show but her experience really shone through here and she was probably the most natural performer of the night and had everybody smiling. She went around stealing crisps from people in the audience. At this point, everybody is clearly having fun and enjoying the fast-paced show. Ginny - Followed by Ginny who tore the house down with some off-beat comedy. It felt a bit like at the circus when you start with some gymnastics to build up to the acrobats. She came out to a loud ovation, danced to a backing track and left. 7/10Īsstina - Then Asstina came out and danced a bit. Laurence had some banter with the audience and introduced the night and it was all good fun. The crowd was very hot before the show began with a clear buzz around the room. Lawrence Chaney - Lawrence started the show with a bit of MC'ing and got the crowd going. Was it like the TV show? Was it a variety show? A talent show? I purposely avoided reading anything about it. Last night I attended the Drag Race UK Season 2 Tour in Nottingham and thought I'd share some of my thoughts on the show, production and experience (along with a few /10 ratings).īefore the show, I had no idea what to expect.
